 Veeranjaneya Temple is located in Mahalakshmi Layout. The Hanuman statue here is a 22 ft high monolithic carving. In 1973, the people began worshipping a rock on the barren hillock and painted an image of Anjaneya,
which was later sculpted into an idol in 1975 by a sculptor, Shanmugananda. The State Govt. attempted to takeover the temple which was stayed by the High Court in 2013. On Hanuman Jayanti day, the temple distributes fruits to about thousands of monkeys in and around Bangalore.The annual Benne Alankara ( butter decoration) event falls in the August.
