Crime against children in Bangalore
While gang-rapes are spreading like an epidemic, the recent cases in Bangalore show how vulnerable children are in our fragile legal system. Parents are rightfully demanding for proactive security measures instead of schools resorting to non-committal tactics after the worst has happened. On ethical grounds, it is as bad as a doctor disowning responsibility of the patient's health or an elected Govt. saying it is not responsible for welfare of the country. Couple of years ago, a courageous teacher in an orphanage near Hosur Road, filed an FIR against a Medical Officer who was abusing the inmates. Even activists withdrew their support to her, due to the influence of this MO.

Know your Bangalore

Jumma Masjid mosque in the OPH Road of Shivajinagar is unique in many ways. Flanked by 2 ancient temples on either side, with 2 churches and 4 other mosques in the vicinity, Jumma Masjid is a standing testimony for the communal harmony that has prevailed for centuries in OPH Road. Built in 1790 under the patronage of Tipu Sultan, Jumma Masjid is the oldest known mosque in Bangalore. Foundation is said to have been laid by emperor Aurangazeb. The monilithic granite pulpit, houses the relics of Prophet Muhammad and Hazrat Abdul Qadar Jeelani. There is a clock that has been ticking since 1906. It is also the only mosque in India where the same Imam had conducted prayers for 54 years. At the siren for Iftaar ( post-sunset meal during the month of Ramadan), the vibrant OPH Road springs to life with people sharing delicacies and traders selling their best wares.
