NEWS WE WISH WAS NEVER THERE

Crime against children and women
The question that runs in the minds of Bengalureans today - were children being exploited all the while - or such crimes are rampant now ? Easy access to porn content and legal loopholes have emboldened more perverts. More children and parents have mustered the courage to expose such crimes. For generations, the tradition of faithful obedience to elders & teachers has been instilled in our system. Such controlled environment is being exploited by monstrous predators. Today, we are having to educate our children when not to obey staff/attendants/supervisors or even relatives and how to deal with the harsh consequences. If children are vulnerable in schools and neighbourhood, one can only imagine the plight of children in orphanages. Following reports are published here only to create awareness of the danger that lurks in the society.

Bull TempleBull Temple Road in Basavanagudi, is venue for Kadalekayi Parishe, the historic annual groundnut fair celebrated for 2 days, starting the last Monday of the Karthika month in the Hindu calendar. This year, the Chikka Parishe (small fair) was held on 16 Nov and the Dodda Parishe (big fair) on 17th and 18th Nov. The festival said to have originated during Kempe Gowda's reign, is now organised by the BBMP and the State's Religious Endownment Department. Vendors from Karnataka, TN and AP spread huge mounds of groundnut varieties on either side of the road near the temple. Legend goes that a bull which trampled the groundnut crops, was appeased only when the farmers prayed to Lord Shiva promising to offer their first harvest to Basavanna, the bull.
